WHEN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION OCCURS IN THE VILLAGE: NARRATIVES OF INDIGENOUS TEACHERS IN TRAINING

ABSTRACT

This article aims to reflect on infant school education during the process of training teachers for indigenous schools. It is based on the narratives of teachers in the Indigenous Intercultural Pedagogy course in Vale do Javari, AM, Brazil. Such narratives were produced from the class “Indigenous Children and School” and “Supervised teaching experience”, and were organized in 3 procedures: the personal narratives of childhood; the narratives according to ethnicity, which highlighted the way in which children live in communities; and narratives about children in indigenous infant schools.
