Teacher literacy practices in an enterprise with mathematical tasks

Abstract:

In this article we aim to identify and describe the negotiation of meanings in teaching literacy practices in an enterprise in which teachers who teach Mathematics have participated. Therefore, inspired by a sociocultural perspective of literacy, we followed a qualitative approach and the theoretical constructs of participation, reification and negotiation of meanings to describe the practice of teachers when they selected and analyzed tasks for the final years of elementary school in a public institution. The production of empirical material occurred through observations, interviews and documents. The results indicate that the selection and implementation of tasks occurred according to the context of the classes and in reference to aspects of practice to develop tasks and class narratives. The analyses suggest that these actions reflected social uses of reading and writing in practices recognized and valued in that context, and the way they used texts to socialize and be recognized as participants.
