Citizenship, education and everyday life

This paper consists of a theoretical essay which investigates the theme of citizenship as an everyday practice. It proposes conceptual interventions in this field and at the same time it seeks to establish interlocutions with situations related to educational processes, particularly those that take place at schools on a daily basis. It aims at making connections between categories related to the area of everyday life studies and the thematic perspectives of some researchers that have recently discussed the theme of citizenship education as an everyday practice. Three analytical categories, agency, experience and identity, will stand as points of interrelation between the two research lines presented on the theme. In the end, we suggest what the interconnection of those two perspectives might bring to the understanding of citizenship and for the processes of citizenship education.
