Mozambican Modernities and Education: from the crisis of references to the emptiness of meaning

ABSTRACT

The work summarizes a PhD dissertation concerning education and the ethical crisis in Mozambique, taking as a starting point Ethics in the Philosophy Teaching in the country. It is argued that the country is crossed by an emptiness of meaning resulting from the crisis of ethical references in consequence of the two modernities implemented in the country: revolutionary socialist and neoliberal capitalist. Methodologically, it was accomplished a bibliographic review and a historic-documental analysis on the project of socialist and capitalist modernity, introducing also how education has been a mediation for enabling the project of socialist modernity, mostly. Lastly, some indicators of the ethical crisis in the country are presented.
