The National School Feeding Programme (Pnae) from its decentralisation management

Abstract

This study aimed to present the analysis of the historical projection of the Programa Nacional de Alimentação Escolar (Pnae) from its decentralization management with emphasis on the actions developed in the period 1995 to 2020. This is a critical essay based on literature review and official data provided by the Fundo Nacional de Desenvolvimento da Educação/Ministério da Educação (FNDE/MEC) and the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística - IBGE. After the historical analysis, the basic food basket had an increase of approximately 509,17% and the resources invested in this same period in Pnae had an increase of 628,81%. However, the readjustments made by the government in school meals, even with the freezing per capita per meal in specific periods, exceeded the Índice de Preço do Consumidor (IPCA) and the average of the national basic food basket itself, showing its great advance.
