After a presentation of the neo-liberal politics, materialized in the educational reforms that have reached all Latin America, it discusses the research agenda on these themes, considering: 1) the impacts teachers, as worker immersed in a new "institutional culture", live; and 2) their work product - the training of a "work force" and, in the case of higher education, the production of "technological and scientific knowledge". Finally, it points out the general theoretical-methodological outlines of the specialized literature on the subject and analyzes them critically.
