ABSTRACT
The title ‘Teachers after the pandemic’ draws attention to the need for profound changes in education and teaching work. The text starts from a critique of three current illusions, accentuated by the response to Covid-19, which spread the ideas that learning happens ‘naturally’ in a diversity of times and spaces, that the physical school will give way to the ‘virtual school’, and that pedagogy can be replaced by technologies. As an alternative to these ‘illusions,’ we emphasize that education always implies an intentionality, which leads us to value the role of teachers in the construction of a common public space for education, in the creation of new school environments, and in the composition of a ‘relationship pedagogy.’
