Investimento social das empresas: cooperação organizacional num espaço compartilhado

This work is a product of a research searching to identify features of organizational structures which make possible Brazilian companies to invest in a systematic way in community programs. It also identifies types of cooperation established between corporations and social organizational structures to achieve common goals and elements that influence these relations. Using a qualitative and comparative exploratory approach, twenty organizations members of GIFE - Group of Institutes, Foundations and Private Enterprises was studied. The analysis underlies some concepts related to corporate social investment initiatives, such as philanthropy, corporate citizenship, business ethics and social responsibility. The corporate social investments practices are analyzed under the perspective of interorganizational cooperation relations, specially through networks. Among the conclusions, this study points out that the models of action on this field in Brazil are characterized by heterogeneity and hybridism, and they are in transformation. The cases are clear examples of the slight limits between public and private spheres and the different kinds of organizations built on the space of interaction for the common-good. It is also identified that some conditions must be developed in order to strength the virtues of interorganizational cooperation relations in the case of corporate social investment programs.
