ABSTRACT
The perception of Physical Education teachers from the Rede Municipal de Ensino de Florianópolis/Brazil (Municipal Education Network of Florianópolis) about the inclusion of field tennis as a teaching content was investigated. Through a quantitative-qualitative and descriptive approach, the Field Tennis Teaching Perception Instrument (Instrumento de Percepção do Ensino do Tênis de Campo – IPET) was elaborated, validated and answered by 23 teachers. The results revealed that the strategies and possibilities for inserting content about field tennis refer to initial training, experiences and specific knowledge of teachers. There was a low number of professors who teach the modality, related to the little knowledge and material resources available.
