Analysis of quality of life of school physical education teachers

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to verify the quality of life (QL) index of physical education teachers from a municipal public teaching network in the state of Rio de Janeiro through the Whoqol-breef questionnaire. Thirty-one teachers from a total of 65 physical education teachers in the network were evaluated, stratified by gender and length of service (2-8 years, 9-15 years, >15 years). The results The general average of the QL score indicated that the teachers' quality of life needs more attention and improvements, mainly in the domains of social relations, environmental conditions and stress. It is concluded that the reduced rates of satisfaction and care with QoL denotes the need to rethink public policies on workers' health and the characteristics of teaching work.
