Teachers' social representations on sexual diversity in a school paraense

Abstract:

This research aimed to identify and analyze the social representations of teachers on sexual diversity by the Central Nucleus Theory. Data collection was by Free Association Technique words, attended by 50 teachers of a public school. Data were analyzed from four-frame houses built by EVOC2003 software: central, intermediate, contrasts and peripherals. The analyzes showed that the subjects have a representational structure that includes the Sexual Diversity determined by cognitions Respect and Freedom, which are the core elements. Intermediaries were: Homosexuality, Sexual Orientation and Prejudice. The contrasts were: Acceptance, Human Rights, Family and Equality and peripherals were: Bisexual, Other, Straight, Types of Acts Sexual and Transexual. The data indicate that there are two groups of teachers in different conditions, which are already more tolerant of sexual diversity and those who have not yet come to this condition.
