Profile of Physical Education teachers' continuous formation: models, modalities and contributions for pedagogic practice

Abstract

Continuing education promotes teachers professional development and influence their professional practice. The aim of this study was to describe the actions of continuing education attended by beginners (n = 34) and experienced (n = 36) physical education teachers and analyze their perceptions of the most valuable formations for professional development. The study was descriptive. Instrument for data collection was questionnaire. Statistical analysis was descriptive. Continuing education events were occasional and short-lived, based on the transmission of knowledge that rarely provide teachers adequate Continuing education conditions to build an innovative and contextual praxis.
