  • Desenvolvimento Psíquico e Elaboração Conceitual por Alunos com Deficiência Intelectual na Educação Escolar1 Ensaio

    PADILHA, Anna Maria Lunardi

ABSTRACT: Considering that human development is the passage of the biological being to the cultural being and that the conditions of existence, created by men, throughout the history of each people, that promote the development of properly human functions, in this text, we intend to highlight the conceptual elaboration, proper of school education, by students with intellectual disability. The course of reflection brings, firstly, the theoretical basis of Historic-Cultural Psychology to the comprehension of general laws that rule the cultural development of people. Afterwards, we develop arguments about the superior psychological or cultural functions and the conceptual elaboration as a condition and path to this development. On the third part, we present the mediation between the underpinnings of Historic-Cultural Psychology and scholar education performed by Historic-Critic Pedagogy. We concluded by approaching the pedagogic practices and the possibilities that they open to education of people with disabilities once that, by them, it is given meaning to the world and oneself, elevating and transforming, therefore, the quotidian knowledge towards the appropriation of scientific knowledge.

ABSTRACT: This article presents research data and aims to describe the opinion of teachers on the inclusion of students with special needs, exploring the factors that justify their opinion after six years of the Portuguese Decree implementation which aimed to promote equality of opportunities, to value education and to promote improvement in teaching quality. The study included 244 teachers, from public and private schools of Porto through an instrument composed by 5 vignettes with the description of the children's behaviors. The results revealed that behaviors compatible with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Cerebral Palsy were less accepted. The justifications were placed on the lack of training and time to support the child, due to the need of meeting curricular and achievement demands. It also revealed that the training in Special Education was only associated with the students with Cerebral Palsy, and that being kindergarten teacher vs. elementary school teacher influences the acceptance of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy and Global Developmental/Learning Disabilities. Private school teachers showed a better acceptance of these students in comparison with the ones from public schools.

ABSTRACT: The present research investigated the Mental Orthopedics method developed by the educator Helena Antipoff, focusing on its theoretical foundations. As sources, we have used the educator's texts written in the 1930's and compiled into two volumes of The Collection of Helena Antipoff's writings: Experimental Psychology and Education of Exceptional Students. Helena Antipoff directed the Psychology Laboratory of Belo Horizonte Improvement School, an institution designed for training teachers and technicians in education. Class homogenization was part of the proposed reform from 1927 on. During the implementation of homogeneous classes, between 1930 and 1935, the Russian psychologist criticized the limitations of this isolated action and concluded that homogenization alone would not bring sufficient results to the students' learning and development. Antipoff endeavored to propose programs that could offer the child an education that respected the students' particularities and offered the teachers the required training to carry out the program. One of these programs was the Mental Orthopedics, a technique used by Binet, and to which the educator adapted educational principles and procedures from several authors. In the application of the Mental Orthopedics, Helena Antipoff valued the commitment, the creativity and the involvement the teacher should have before their students when developing activities that stimulated children's interest and, at the same time, developed their mental skills.

ABSTRACT: The present review aimed to identify studies, which investigated self-concept and self-efficacy in children with physical disabilities, highlights and discusses what they have revealed about the self-assessments in this population. It is a literature review with systematic review criteria. The search was conducted in MEDLINE, LILACS, SCIELO, Cochrane Library, Index Psi Journals, PubMed, PePSIC and Redalyc databases using the terms child, self-efficacy, self-concept, self-perception, disabled persons and cerebral palsy, as well as their respective in Brazilian Portuguese. After screening and selection of articles using the inclusion criteria, seven studies were analyzed. It was observed that all of the analyzed studies are foreign, just one of them deals with self-efficacy and six investigated self-concept specifically in children with cerebral palsy. Results suggest that there is no compliance on self-concept of children with cerebral palsy, and there is no sufficient evidence to conclude that this construct is lower in these children. Regarding self-efficacy, children with disabilities are classified as less competent than children with other problems in neurodevelopment. It is considered that further investigations are needed to confirm the literature suggestions about self-concept and self-efficacy in children with physical disabilities, including this research in the Brazilian scenario, contributing to education and health professionals' knowledge about self-assessments in this population.
